TransLink Pass Information

Rebate Details

We offer Adult Monthly or Concession Passes as well as a Stored Value option.

How to Claim this Rebate
  1. Please read the policies below specific to stored value and/or monthly passes.
  2. Apply to our program. In the application you will select the pass option you prefer from the Rebate/Credit Choice dropdown list. You will receive your email approval letter (typically) within 2 business days.
  3. Scrap your vehicle. You have 30 days from the date you are approved to scrap your vehicle and claim your Compass rebate. Your expiry date will be on your email approval letter.
  4. If you don’t already have a Compass Card, you will need to purchase one before you complete your claim. They can be purchased ($6.00 deposit) at a variety of locations. Use this link to Find a Retailer.
  5. Once you have your card, set up an account and register it with Compass Card.
  6. The start month of your pass or stored value credit will depend on the 2 factors below, but will typically be within 60 days of your application:
    1. When you complete your claim. Meaning when we receive your complete claim form, the date you scrap your vehicle and the date on which we receive the scrap data from the scrap location.
    2. The cut-off dates prescribed by TransLink for Compass Card monthly pass activation (the 15th of each month). See #9 below.
  7. When you complete your claim, you will also need to provide us with the Serial Number off the back of your card (Click to see example).  It is your responsibility to ensure we have received the correct serial number from you. What you enter into the claim form will be transferred directly to our database as you have entered it.
  8. Visit our Claim page and select either the monthly pass or stored value option.
  9. Complete the required fields.
  10. You will receive a confirmation email from us once you are set up. This email will indicate the start and end dates for your monthly passes or stored value credits.
  11. Monthly passes and/or stored value credits will automatically load onto your Compass Card.
  12. If we have any questions, we will contact you using the email address you provided in your application, please ensure it is accurate.
SCRAP-IT Policies for Stored Value Credits
  1. The stored value credit option is a “use it or lose it” option. You will receive a $50.00 per month credit, automatically loaded onto your card for 16 months.
  2. The maximum credit your card can have at any time is $175.00 therefore you must use your credits regularly. If you do not, additional credits will not load once you reach $175.00.
  3. SCRAP-IT will not be responsible for any unused/missed, or unloaded stored value credits resulting from your Compass Card reaching this maximum. Please note this is a very important consideration when claiming this rebate.
  4. SCRAP-IT stored value credits are not refundable or transferrable.
  5. Stored value credits cannot be put on hold. No start/stops. Once the monthly $50.00 credit (automatically loadded) starts, it continues consecutively until your 16 months have completed.
  6. You cannot change your pass type after your claim is complete. In other words, if you select stored value credits and you have received (for example) 3 months worth ($150.00) you cannot change to a monthly adult or concession pass. The type of pass you select in the claim process will be a final decision.
  7. You can add stored value at your own expense, but keep in mind the $175.00 maximum limit applies in all circumstances.
  8. SCRAP-IT will not be liable for any months during which we provided, but you did not use your benefit. For example, if you do not use your Compass Card (stored value credit) for the whole month of July because your were on vacation (or any other reason), SCRAP-IT will not be obligated to replace that lost month/benefit. Please also take this into consideration when applying for this rebate.
  9. If you lose your Compass Card, you are responsible for immediately obtaining a replacement card in accordance with the Compass Card Terms and Conditions of Use. Once you have your new card, you will need to advise SCRAP-IT within 3 business days (of the date of loss), of the Serial Number on the new card. Please advise us in writing by email and include your original SCRAP-IT approval number. SCRAP-IT shall have no responsibility or liability whatsoever for rebate months that do not load onto a Compass Card if you fail to notify us of the loss and the replacement card information within 3 business days (of the date of loss).
  10. The use of the Compass Card shall be subject to the Compass Card Terms and Conditions of Use.
SCRAP-IT Policies for Monthly Passes
  1. SCRAP-IT monthly passes are not refundable or transferrable.
  2. Monthly passes cannot be put on hold. No start/stops. Once the monthly pass starts, it continues consecutively until your allowed number of months have completed.
  3. You cannot change your monthly pass type after your claim is complete. In other words, if you select an adult monthly pass and you have received (for example) 3 months of adult monthly passes, you cannot change that pass to a concession pass. The type of pass you select will be a final decision.
  4. You can add value (zones) to an adult monthly pass at your own expense. For example, we provide a 1 zone monthly pass. If you need a 3 zone pass, you can contact TransLink and purchase the additional zones at your own cost using the same Compass Card.
  5. SCRAP-IT will not be liable for any months during which we provided, but you did not use your benefit. For example, if you do not use your Compass Card (monthly pass) for the whole month of July because your were on vacation (or any other reason), SCRAP-IT will not be obligated to replace that lost month/benefit. Please take this into consideration when applying for this rebate.
